About the Trade Programs

As more current workers are reaching retirement age, there may be a shortage of skilled individuals to work vital jobs, such as driving tractor trailers or servicing air conditioning units.

It’s no secret that there is a demand for skilled trade workers. As more current trade workers continue to reach retirement age, there may be a shortage of skilled individuals to work important jobs, such as driving tractor trailers or servicing air conditioning units. Ohio Business College is proud to offer a Class A CDL program, Electrical Applications program and an HVAC/R program to prepare the next generation of skilled trades workers.

Truck Driving Academy

Truck drivers are currently in demand, with employment expected to increase six percent through 2026, according to the Occupational Information Network (O*NET). If you are looking for a trade career hauling heavy amounts of cargo on the open road, earning a Class A CDL could be the right path for you. In the Tri-State area, there is no better place to gain the knowledge you need to pass the Class A CDL exam than Ohio Business College’s Truck Driving Academy.

A Class A CDL qualifies a driver to operate a vehicle with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of more than 26,000 pounds. GCWR is a vehicle’s maximum allowable mass, which varies depending on the vehicle.

OBC’s Class A CDL program is offered at our Dayton college campus, which is strictly for our Truck Driving Academy. In addition to learning the trade skills you need to confidently step up into the cab of a big rig, you will also be able to take the Class A CDL exam on site.
